A Debater's Skills
Thursday, September 10, 2009, 09:29
Let me show you how a debater's skills can be used to solve real problems in real life and not just on the debate floor...using a real problem of mine. (In debate we have a code word: Dumble-di-di-dum! for all first speakers to remember the basic speech format.)

What is the problem?
As of late, my Crumpler bag is becoming uncomfortable to carry.

Why is it a problem?
Because it is a bag which I frequently use. Because it cuts across my chest and the strap is pretty thick...and for females who are of my age and are 'experiencing changes in their body'(QUOTE THE SCIENCE TEXTBOOK), it's not very confortable. Not to mention it cuts your assets in half and just about displays it for all the world to see.

What is our policy(How we solve the problem)?
I will search for another bag -- a backpack. (At the moment my father gave me one, but the problem is, there are no pockets. No pockets outside, none inside. I mean ZIPPERED POCKETS that are OPAQUE (IE, CAN'T SEE THROUGH.) It's a problem because I have no way to put my iPod in without burying it at the bottom of my books, and I have no inside pocket for pads. How to solve this problem: I am currently trawling through blogshops for alternative backpacks that look interesting enough but are GREY.)

THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE CASE SET-UP HERE --
DEFINITIONS
CLARIFICATIONS
YARDSTICK(S)
CASE DIV -- WHO GETS WHAT SUBSTANTIVE

Then your CHARACTERISATION --

But I think the first three are enough for now. Otherwise it would become a full-fledged 1st Prop speech and I have no wish to have six minutes worth of a speech up here.

So that's all for now.
